Frequently Asked Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

No, acupuncture generally will not hurt. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and typically made from stainless steel. Many people do not even feel the needles going in, or some may feel a slight sensation as the needles are inserted. You may feel different sensations including tingling, numbness, warmth, or pressure. This indicates your energy is moving and differs from pain. People often comment that the feeling is unfamiliar but pleasant, comforting and relaxing. Some people will want to nap during and following treatments while others report being more energetic for a few days after treatment.
